Boo! Halloween costume ideas.

So if the unique and creative person in you wants to go as something other than the sexy nurse or cop... then you've come to the right place! I scoured the internet, asked friends and even thought of some really cool costume ideas myself. Keep in mind - they might not be scary BUT they are super creative and will surely get you some high fives.

So let's get to it... Let me know which one you're digging.

10. Fruit.

It's pretty simple but also really cute - hey if you are a couple or part of a group, go as a fruit salad. Pineapple, strawberry, even a banana.

9. Film franchise/novel hero

Either Harry Potter or Katniss Everdeen. You can't really go wrong with either of them. And no one will ever ask you who you're dressed up as. Unless they live in a hole. Seriously?!

8. Social media savy

Whether you go dressed up as Instagram itself with #thestrongestselfiegameever or you team up with a group of friends and do the whole shabang - this is a very IN and cool idea that most of us social media addicts will get and even relate to.

7. Superheros

You can't really go wrong with this. Although it's been there done that. You can definitely kick it up a notch and make it a group effort.

6. Disney

Admit it. There's still an inner child in you who does still marvel at Disney princesses or at least wonder how it would feel. Well Halloween makes everything acceptable. So why not? Not feeling particularly royal? Try out a Disney villain!

5. From Cable to the big screen.

The Joker

Clown from Saw

With TV and movie villains getting more and more popular there's so much really to choose from! Everyone loves The Joker from Batman. And hey there's more villains where that came from. Forget villains - even The Adams Family freaked me out! So use your imagination and your TV guide to give you some ideas.

Here are our favourites:

  • Dexter from Dexter
  • Walt or Jesse from Breaking Bad
  • Patrick Bateman from American Psycho
  • The Adams Family - basically anyone
  • Game of Thrones - basically anyone
  • Lord of the Rings - extra points for Smeagol
  • Lord Voldemort from Harry Potter
  • The Walking Dead - zombies?

4. Pick a furry friend.

So cats and bunnies are kind of overdone. So let your creative juices flow and try to do something a bit different. Maybe even take a scary take on an animal?

3. Take it old school

Why not revive those old school memories? Come up with characters that were popular growing up. If you're partying it up with your friends then they will definitely get the reference.

2. Food.

Who doesn't love a good snack reference? You can't really go wrong with this and hey make it a party pack and get a group of friends in on it too!

1. Outside the box.

Weatherman caught in a storm

Woman being eaten by a shark

Moaning Myrtle from Harry Potter

These are definitely the best kinds of costumes. Ones that really require the most thought and planning. But rest assured - no one will be wearing it! These are so unique and hilarious in their own right.
