Designer spotlight: 5:31 Jérôme

So it's been awhile since we talked about a new designer... I actually started this popular idea and then totally forgot about it. But with 2015 almost coming to an end, I needed to talk about some new designers.

So today we are focusing on Jérôme LaMaar - a Bronx born and raised designer who is slowly making his way to fame. You also may have seen him or at least been familiar with his name from the reality tv show that he appeared on titled Life in the Fab Lane on the Simmons' show. At just the age of 30, LaMaar has already accomplished so much and is just reaching fame as his number of fans increase everyday.

Why can’t a person be spiritual, sexy, smart and stylish all at once? I like the idea of multi-facet women, the kind of person that can do it all and still remain present!!
— JÉRÔME LAMAAR

Originally planning  to study physics at Brown University, LaMaar gave this up to study fashion design and fabric styling at the Fashion Institute of Technology. While working on his own collection, LaMaar works with Paris based firm Promostyl and as a personal shopper for clients.

So why 5:31 for his collection... what's the significance? That would be May 31st... his birthday! LaMaar made his debut at New York's fashion week in September 2013. The new collection is defined as "Maximalism" and focuses on street style and a polished, feminine look. The collection retails between $200-$300 USD. Below are some of the looks from the SS2015 collection:
